Mark 16:1-8

Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James and Salome, went to the tomb early on the first day of the week. They were prepared to anoint Jesus' dead body with spices. The conversation that carried them on the way to the tomb was one fixated on whether they would be able to roll away the large stone covering the entrance. But when they arrived at the tomb, they discovered the stone had been rolled away and then encountered a messenger of God inside who told them Jesus had been raised. The Gospel of Mark concludes the resurrection account by describing how the women fled the tomb after being seized by terror and amazement.

When have you been seized by these two, seemingly competing, emotions? When has your amazement paralyzed you in fear instead of propelling you forward in hope?

You're invited to arrive this Sunday expecting to hear a message of hope, one centered on the admonition that you truly cannot live in this place of fear or terror anymore.
